Local Author Has a Hit With Her First Children’s Book! Launch Reception at TSU Library.
Local writer Lynn C. Page will release her first children’s book, “My First Best Cousin Freind!” on Thursday, October 2021.
During the COVID-19 shutdown, Lynn C. Page was sitting through what she described as a boring online seminar at home while trying to pivot to keep food on the table.
“I started to drift, and I started to doodle, and I doodled two circles, eyes, a girl and then another girl, and I wrote ‘best friend first cousins,’” she said.
Lynn, who was a graphic artist, website designer, and business strategist, was thinking about writing a book on business strategy.
The sketch she had drawn took her in a different direction.
“I was looking at this doodle, and I just got this really wonderful idea,” said the native of Houston. “Everything became clear to me. I was dying to get back into creative things. I wanted to do something fun and expressive.”
Before the coronavirus pandemic forced a nationwide lockdown, Lynn drove nearly thousands of miles around to introduce her first book to schools and talk to administrators and teachers about how it could be used as an educational tool.
She also makes herself available at schools, either in person or via Zoom, to talk to students about writing while encouraging them to craft their own stories.
